| Our stories led to several common themes, and sparked new questions... | ||||||
| What is most appreciated by others comes the easiest to us | ||
| We can fall into apologizing for being how we are | ||
| It's risky to claim gifts | ||
| The realm of action, what's visible in the world, is tightly connected to this realm of intention, meaning, that we achieve in these meetings. Get clear here helps us know what to do out there. And we need each others' help in following that path. | ||
| How would we know if our gifts had validity? We tend not to value the effect on the inner world, in ourselves or others. | ||
| If we see movement, we thinking we're having an effect... but over what time frame? The Clock of the Long Now is trying to get us to be conscious of this... it only ticks once a day, and "bongs" every hundred years. | ||
| There is benefit in an expanding circle of giving - like the movie, Pay It Forward. | ||
| It would be wonderful if the whole world could feel like a safe place to share authentically. | ||
| We are part of a system that's doing damage. There is incredible value in shining a light on the barriers to acting from our deepest concerns. | ||
| How do we choose how much to do? We can follow what's easy, we can just be true to ourselves. We don't have to try to do everything. | ||
| If we give from what comes easy, we're less likely to have resentment build up, because we're not waiting for a reward "some day". | ||
| Eventually, the easy gifts lead us on to the scary stuff. | ||
| A talent may not necessarily be easy - I feel the gift of diving in deep into problems with persistence, energy, and interest that others don't often find - but it doesn't feel easy. | ||
| When I get good at something and it starts to feel effortless, I tend to move on so I can challenge myself. I am excited to choose 2-3 gifts that I can stick with, and I feel almost ready. |
